      • Is a .5" effective heel height right for me? I'm used to a different size.
      • Answer: Having this size heel helps you maintain control like never before. You know our regular size heel, here's something that'll help the transition. The benefits of a more comfortable lift, better positioning, and proper alignment stay the same. If you have mobility issues in your ankles, hips or shoulders, a higher or lower heel height could help provide a better bar path and catch position.

      • What do you mean by 'maximize force'?
      • Answer: Heel construction tests have been performed to see how much force is applied (or lost) though the lift. After testing UVA, TMU and wood, wood outperformed TMU by a margin of 12 percentage points (.65 vs .77). A score of 1 is ideal for this test indicating zero-loss of force through absorption of the material. TMU is a synthetic plastic that you will find on major mass-produced brands. From these density tests, wood's density allows the maximum force out of the materials currently available to produce heels on weightlifting shoes.

      • How do they fit?
      • Answer: Our shoes fit true to size and we recommend ordering your regular shoe size. Please note: our Women lifters are true women's sizes. Thus, they are slightly more narrow than our men lifters. This is to create the same snug fit for women as we do for men. However, if you are a female with size E width or wider, we would suggest ordering a Men's size instead. This would be 1.5 sizes below your female size. For example, if you normally wear a Women's 8.5, we would suggest ordering a Men's size 7. See our Size Guide below for more information.

Perfectly engineered, as all lifters should be.

The Mad Titan (And R1 in general) are awesome! A typical workout consists of rowing, oly lifts, and some accessory work for me You can do it all in these shoes. They're really solid and stable! The 0.5" heel on them reduces the required amount of flexion in your ankle so that you can pull from a more advantageous position, but not as much as a full 1" lifter. I was squatting barefoot for a while, and the difference between that and the titans are night and day. The finish of the shoes is also really wonderful. No frayed edges, poor stitching, or anything like that. The suede is thicker than what you might be accustomed to, but that comes with the territory of a purpose built shoe for lifting hundreds of pounds (and quality suede foot ware in general). Even though the suede on Titans are multiple colors, it's still very high quality. The fit on the shoes is really great as well. I'm in between an 8 and a 9 US men's depending on brand (9 in Iron Rangers for reference). The 9 gives me a plenty roomy toe box as well as tons of support in the heel and mid foot with or without the straps tightened. Suede maintenance is a breeze, but be prepared to buy at least a brush (spare toothbrush works in a pinch) if you wear them outside on your way to the gym. I love my R1s! If you can take care of a suede shoe, I'd 100% recommend them as they'll serve you well for a very long time! If you can't, then learn how, because they're that good.
