Understanding the importance of having a solid foundation while weightlifting is huge. If you are trying to lift weights while in a soft-sole shoe, you are increasing your risk of injury, as well as putting my stress and strain on stabilizing yourself instead of driving straight up. Another problem with soft sole shoes, is if you happen to fall forward a bit while under load, your shoes will allow you to fall even farther forwards thus putting you in harms way.
