The squat is the real test of strength. Go to any gym and the person squatting 4 plates per side gets the eyeballs on them.
A very common error we see amongst lifters is they shift away from their quads too early and let their hips push back.
What ends up happening is that they sacrifice a strong position (bar over midfoot) for a weak position (barbell in front of you). It's no wonder many people have the same sticking point (at the midpoint).
